I visited this daycare. 2 things did not match with my vision about how a daycare should be. 1) they have a garden but said they do not use it for playing at all. They go with the backfiets somewhere else instead only 1 a day in the morning, also babies. Kids who come the first few days to the daycare also go with the backfiets straight away (too much stress in my opinion, and a daycare should make use of their own garden if they have one, especially if they have small kids to look after and babies not able to walk). They say they are so much focusing on nature, but then only maximum go out once in the morning for 1 hour. 2) they did not answer the questions about if my child gets a person to bond with, like a primary person. They said the children will get to know ALL the leidsters working in that daycare (I think it were 6-8 people during the week. If my child, planned for 2 days would be supervised by the same 2 or 3 people both days, the answer was not given and seemed to be a bit refused. It was said that it can switch but that does not matter to kids because the staff all work the same way and children do not bond with one person more than with the other due to the same work style (what I heard from all mothers around me, kids do have their preferences...) They did not mention it precisely, but I was later thinking that on Fridays the staff swaps on a weekly bases, due to their parttime jobs they were telling about, so better to ask and listen carefully if you visit them to get to know them. Kids were all away with the backfiets when we came. It was too cleaned up and the vegetables looked like very carefully placed so it looks "overwhelming" nice and beautiful. This place did not feel natural and honest to me, also the conversation with the manager. More like a "show". I can not remember curtains on the big window. So I could imagine it is getting very hot in the group in summer.
